Photographers Without Borders: AP & Reuters Pictures of Hamas Atrocities Raise Ethical Questions

On October 7, Hamas terrorists were not the only ones who documented the war crimes they had committed during their deadly rampage across southern Israel. Some of their atrocities were captured by Gaza-based photojournalists working for the Associated Press and Reuters news agencies whose early morning presence at the breached border area raises serious ethical questions.

What were they doing there so early on what would ordinarily have been a quiet Saturday morning? Was it coordinated with Hamas? Did the respectable wire services, which published their photos, approve of their presence inside enemy territory, together with the terrorist infiltrators? Did the photojournalists who freelance for other media, like CNN and The New York Times, notify these outlets? Judging from the pictures of lynching, kidnapping and storming of an Israeli kibbutz, it seems like the border has been breached not only physically, but also journalistically.

  1. If I worked in israel for one of the medias I would plan on some time in jail as the israelis try to figure who knew what and did not say anything. I hope people impacted sue the hell out of the execs and media companies that had a heads up. One law suite at a time to drive up the costs to the media. I doubt if the media is as protected in israel as the US.

  5. I am guaranteed protection from invasion in this country.
    We are being invaded.
My government is assisting the invasion.
    We are on our own.

  7. Suddenly those people the media 'have had no problems with the work of' are being thrown under the bus.

  8. There are no questions. They were Palestinian combat photographers and videographers, and should be held as enemy combatants. If they come back to the civilized world, they should be arrested and held for war crimes trials.

  9. Pity that Israel doesn't have capital punishment, though they do launch hit squads against enemy players. If they had capital punishment they could have some really interesting murder trials especially for scum like this. With public executions.

  10. Remember all the perfect video of the World Trade Center during the Sept 11 2001 debacle. Another case of violating some of the most restricted and monitored airspace in the world. But, we just 'happened' to be here....

  11. For those "journalists" to be embedded with the initial wave, they needed pre-coordination. They surely did not flash-mob with the first wave out of pure happenstance. Their role is a legal question - are they combatants? are they co-conspirators, accessories? No idea how Israeli law works, something like the American concept of felony murder attaching to all of them, even if they never pulled a trigger. I hear that Mossad has put the gang back together (concept-wise) that deleted all the Munich perps. I guess they will find out.
