Sorry 'bout that

AWashington state man is suing the University of Washington (UW), after two UW surgeons failed to locate his appendix and instead removed part of his colon – leaving the man with a litany of medical problems.

    1. Yep. Expect this kind of stuff to happen more and more as diversity kicks in. I think medical mistakes are already the third leading cause of death. -sammy

    2. When I choose a Dr. I look for a white guy, they got their school slot based on merit. That includes the Jewish Dr.'s, and I wlll accept Chinese too because they are intelligent. Avoid blacks and Mohammeds.

    3. Last doctor I had was the only doctor I could find that wasn't Hindu and could speak English without a heavy accent that I would have a hard time understanding. He turned out to be the best doc I ever had.

    4. Anonymous 8:38AM, similar to you, when looking for a doctor I want the following characteristics:

An active white male 5-10 years younger than me so that he understands my lifestyle and potential issues.
Board Certification as it is indicates he is doing more than the minimum to stay current with new technologies and practices in medicine.
A holistic approach to medicine as I don't buy into the Big Pharma "we have a pill for every malady."
Lastly, I look for a doctor with small hands. ;-)

The hands joke is a little dated since rectal exams usually aren't done anymore, but the other three are real criteria that I use to assess doctors.

    5. My wife's pulmonologist is Indian, dot, not feather. She's had him for almost 30 years. Great guy with a good sense of humor. And he knows what he's about.

For a little while she also had a Pakistani primary care doctor. They didn't get along because we thought he was asking for too many tests every time she had an appointment. So he fired her as a patient. I will say that he did catch my wife's lung cancer at stage one when it was easy to treat.

I don't care about a doctor's skin color or ethnicity as long as they are competent.

    6. FrankP: actually, the small hands requirement is no joke, at least as far as I'm concerned. And the rectal exam is alive and kicking (jamming?) as I got bent over just a few months ago. Yikes.

    8. The Pakistani doctor owned his own emergency care practice, tied in with his Internist practice. Dude had his own lab for blood work and his own X-ray and CT scan machines in office. Wife thought it was a way for him to overcharge medicare.

  2. Granted, I'm not a surgeon, but... measure twice, cut once. How'd you fuck that up?
On the plus side, you will have to pay more to cover the malpractice insurance payout this guy will receive.

  3. I guarantee the insurance payout will not even begin to cover the costs over his lifetime. Been there, done that.
Surgeon ought to have his shit removed too.

  4. In possible defense it may have been a rare retrocecal appendix which cannot be seen without resecting a portion of the colon.
