#4 - too bad they cut the clip short, I wonder if this one made it to the bushes at the base of the slope. That isn't the first avalanche down that chute and won't be the last.
#2 one of two times I ever shot at a running deer. The first time, a doe being chased by my ex's dogs. Missed by a mile. The second, a button buck running up a draw, right at me. Hit him right behind the front shoulder where I aimed. He ran past me, and ran into a tree, dropped dead. Both times were with my dad's 30-40 Krag. I never shot at another running deer again, nor did I ever kill another deer with a rifle. But that cartridge might not have been a good military round, but it was a fantastic deer round, using the old Remington Core-Lokt. My son in Kentucy has it now.
Isn't the 30-40K a predecessor of the 30-06? Plenty good round, knew a dumbass that blew a hole in the floorboard of a pickup, ruined the rt tire and rim! It's no slouch. They walked a ways further than they wanted to, this was AFTER the pm hunt.....flat spare....no mercy on idjits.
Couple of extra Mondays in there
