You could pass law school, medical school, and get PHD's in 12 kinds of engineering, and it doesn't mean anything until you leave school and go to work.
I worked with a guy with 14 Master’s degrees and counting. And that was 25 years ago. He just liked learning new skills continuously, and our company completely paid for schooling. He could program, analyze data, business expert - not simple skills. But an electrical engineering background gives a great start.
Many years ago. one of the office former computer 'witch doctors' claimed if he were to win a large Lotto hit, he would do exactly this, going to school and taking classes of whatever interested him at the time. No work ever expected, he claimed he enjoyed learning that much. He did not mention any degrees though.
55 years in school - man, that is a lot of parking permits.
Shit, that’s nothing. I played Army for 22 years as an adult and was totally dependent on the taxpayers and still am. Now that’s a damn shame ! Eod1sg Ret
That's what kids who worship their professors don't get. These professional students have never done a damn thing outside the University yet claim to be authorities of all walks of life, which they have never walked. Application, that is where you learn something.
Well, I knew a guy I went to college with - we both got our master in electrical engineering, then I went the rat race way. He on the other hand had an idea, developed it, patented it, sold it for a fuckton of money, then went back to school to get other degrees. Afaik he's still in school (we're both mid 50's) - he just enjoys learning, though he chose some interesting topics to study: he's got a PhD in physics and another one in philosophy in addition to a masters in chemical engineering and some other things I didn't bother to remember. Still, an interesting guy...
He's unemployable. No company will touch him. But his delusion and disease are common. I often had to tell my advisees that what counts is degree level and discipline. Any number of BA/BS degrees equals one degree. Any number of MA/MS degrees equals one degree. Any number of PhD/MD/LLD degrees equals one degree.
About thirty years ago there was an article in the local rag aka the Manhattan Mercury about a guy who had taken so many classes that the school's system couldn't calculate his GPA anymore. It could input 9,999 credits, then rolled over like an odometer. That gave him a gpa of 0.0000001 and KSU suspended him. This guy was in his 60's , a corporate president, and took night classes for something to do. I attended at least two classes with him and recognised the photo. Not this guy btw. This got me thinking, who takes night classes? Part time students like me, and gals who aren't in the party scene. Lots of gals in my classes were the nerds. Most were good looking, nice shapely bodies but were bashful, not party harty types. So, you're older and want to pick up younger gals? Take night courses then offer to tutor ones who might interest you.
Considering that he would have had to have written 25 masters thesis', and a doctoral thesis, its likely that he has expanded the sum of human knowledge.
I have two Masters, Nursing and Behavioral Science and often times I thought I was over educated for my job... and it didn't really pay more for earning those two degrees. Waste of time, you may be edumacted, but employers don't give much credence and yes it was night school... I worked and paid for every single credit.
And won't pay off his student loans either.

Are any of these degrees useful (Stem, medical related, cooking school) or are they all "-studies" nonsense?
ReplyDeleteIn school for 55 years makes him at least in his early 70s, i.e., retirement. None of them are useful in terms of making a living.

Taking "professional student" to a whole new level. Usually it was losers who refused to grow up and join the real world.
ReplyDeleteYou mean university professors? Student to intern to degreed to associate to tenured, never leaving campus.
DeleteAnd dare to tell you all about reality.
Probably has 1.5 million in student loans.
ReplyDeleteYeah but can he cook a TV dinner!

ReplyDeleteI initially thought the same but those are tassels that would be hung on the gradiation hat (whateverthefuck they are called). And FUCK JOE BIDEN!
Delete"Probably lived off government grants his whole life."
ReplyDeleteYep, he did. I've seen this meme somewhere else and the comments were pretty scathing. Never done anything useful in his entire life.
Never worked a fuckin day in his life, the useless bint. Cut his nuts off, out of the gene pool with you.

ReplyDelete22 years of military service isn't considered to be a taxpayer's burden. Unless it was Air Force, of course.
Deletehey, I resemble that remark!!!

ReplyDeleteThose kids put a LOT of money into the education industry to sit and listen to those people!
DeleteThis is not the flex I think this guy thinks it is. Ten to one real world situations scare the shit out of him and he can't cope.
ReplyDeleteSomebody needs to tell him the draft ended about 50-years ago and his student deferments expired at the same time.
