It is if the driver is a trucker licensed to pull doubles. My grandfather used to haul a boat behind his 5th wheel and got pulled over on a regular basis every time he did it. Never got a ticket though, and that was in California.
Here in middle Tennessee, I see (frequently) a random vehicle tow two more vehicles, obviously damaged. People buy these 3 vehicles and haul them somewhere out west to repair and sell.
You are correct, Ken. But you must have a Commercial Class A license with a doubles endorsement. While CA has Noncommercial Class A licenses you can't pull two trailers with one.
If I was to pull a setup like that I'd carry a copy of the law with me, as it's complicated and a lot of CHP guys may not know it while they think they do.
#8 is NOT someone towing the other truck. The one behind ran up his ass and got stuck there. Looks like the one in front decided to screw with him and took off. The 2nd guy was coming up to say hello. sunny
