Pentagon Falls 41,000 Short of Reduced Military Recruitment Goals

The Pentagon came up short on its recruitment goals.

The Defense Department’s senior officials testified Wednesday about shortfalls in Army, Navy and Air Force recruiting in the fiscal year that ended in September at a hearing of the House Armed Services Military Personnel Subcommittee. The Marine Corps and Space Force made their recruiting goals.

The military services together missed goals by about 41,000 recruits in fiscal year 2023, said Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Ashish Vazirani.

  1. And they’re going to pretend real hard that they got really smart motivated soldier types to cover the gaps.

    1. At least they don't disappoint. It's expected because lying is what politicians do, Anon.

  2. Amazing what happens when you prize DEI over skills and abilities, and crap on people's families.

  3. Go woke, go broke. The people that the military most desperately need, are smart enough to know that the system is rigged against them, and is some cases is openly hostile towards them.

  4. Talked to a Gunny I know. Marine Corps has met their quota but only the Marines. But he is greatly concerned about the orders coming from higher up on the Woke agenda. Multi year enlisted are retiring sooner. He and others are not encouraging youth to join. He said he would not encourage joining unless there are drastic changes to return the Corps to the Corps

    1. And it seems that it's always the Democrats (Charlie Rangel for instance) that are agitating for a return to conscription.

    2. They've already said they'll enlist the illegals who I'm sure never heard of Posse Comitatus.

    3. The Democrats were and still are the party of slavery. The difference between 1860 and now is that instead of wanting a few to be the slaves of private owners, they now want almost everyone to be the slave of the government - which even at its best is more unfeeling and incompetent than 99% of private owners were.

  6. 35+ years in the Service. Of the hundreds of awesome folks I had the pleasure of serving with, I do not know one who encourages kids to join the service today. NONE!

  7. Ashish Vazirani "Thank you for calling the Pentagon, how may I be helping you"

No but seriously, why the fuck would any white male (you know ...the "combat arms" guys) want to join any military branch? The powers that be gave made it quite clear.....they hate us.......but....as it turns out the diversity hires just won't fight.

  8. Can't help but wonder how unaggressive the ESG/DEI delegate will be unless they can get close enough to an opposing combatant for him to use the wrong pronoun.

  9. Figure ten to fifteen thousand soldiers in a division and then do the math on readiness.
