Rights and privileges? Don't they mean restrictions?
SAN FRANCISCO -- The new year is bringing a host of new rights and privileges to California residents that impact how they live, work and entertain themselves. Here's a list of new laws taking effect on Jan. 1, 2024 and beyond.
And if you eat that Prop 65 sticker while operating a radial arm saw without wearing an N95 mask you may get cancer twice as fast. Because according to the State of California, sawdust is a carcinogen.
AB 261: California may have a state bird (quail) and a state flower (poppy), now it will also have an official state mushroom. The California Golden Chanterelle is a fungus native to California that grows near live oak trees.
Nice to know they're on top of this pressing issue.
I get a kick out of this Channel 7, KGO, San Francisco report. It's just like all the stories on KCRA Sacramento. Written from the perspective that anything state and local government does is wonderful, never questioning the need or sense in any of the laws or regulations they create. Government good, private industry bad.
These are truly examples of a sycophantic, ass-kissing media. Idiots all.
Only useful one I saw was: SB 244: Makes it easier, and likely cheaper, to repair televisions, cellphones and other electronics and home appliances. The law requires manufacturers to provide consumers and repair shops with the parts, tools and documentation needed to service or repair the device. The Right to Repair Act takes effect in July.
Breaking California news: Today PG&E will ask the CA PUC for a $3 Billion rate increase. This money, they say, will be used to "harden the system against Climate Change". And since Newsom's appointees to the PUC board are all about fighting Climate Change, there's little doubt they will grant the rate increase.
This will add $12 to $20 to customers monthly bills. This is in addition to the $32.50 increase already granted by the PUC that will begin January first. That rate increase, they said, was to "harden the system against Wildfires".
There's a whole lot of hardening going on by PG&E these days. And it's all directed at their customer's bungholes.
The most important one is missing: a Prop 65 warning sticker on a Prop 65 warning sticker: "if you eat this sticker you may get cancer".

DeleteIn short: California is a CANCER.
DeleteI always liked,"Known to cause cancer in the state of Kalifornia", and thought, "good thing I don't live there".

Don't worry, Sacramento will realize its mistake and repeal SB 244 because repairing your own equipment will be found to cause cancer...
