Population of less than 1500 doesn't need that many cops no how. We have one for 600 people out here in Iowa. Rural, with lots of God fearing, gun owning folks.
Summer 2022, the entire police force at the Kenly, N.C. Police Department resigned after citing a toxic work environment as well as a conflict with the town manager. Hold our beer, Big Bend.
This is an area I pass through on a weekly basis. The big "crime" in the area happens around a 10mph speed limit drop at the base of a hill, and they hide off to the side. For the real shitheels, they wait in the school parking lot 1/8th of a mile down to hit you with the further school zone.
There's been exactly ONE big problem that I'm aware of in that city. If there's less cops, all the better for people to continue moving on about their day with less chance of being hassled.
This community was posing for holy pictures when they decided to eliminate them - they knew their community would still be protected by the sheriff's department in the area, and they wanted to use the money elsewhere. Screw everyone, all the way around in this situation - they're all pretending they have the high ground.
I looked on the map, saw it was too close to Milwaukee and thought that might be a reason. Revenue patrols are a no go in my book. If there isn't crime to justify a department, they don't need em. Thanks for the info.
Waukesha is the closer "big city". The county sheriff will still be called in if/when the police department is gone. The shame for taxpayers is that they just built a new cop shop a few years ago, although it's not like they're good at spending tax dollars wisely anyway.

Same. My village had 3500 people and 6 cops. No way a village half that size needed 11.
