LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE/Gray News) - An Indiana man was arrested after he allegedly tried to buy a Porsche with a fake $78 million check Wednesday afternoon.
I was a financial advisor for >20 years. One day a lady with delusions of grandeur came in and told me she was inheriting many millions of dollars. I didn't know if it was legit or not so I did the paperwork to open an account and told her when she receives the money to bring it and the paperwork and we'll finish opening the account.
About three months later a car dealership called me and wanted to know where the money way. Apparently they let her drive a custom conversion van off the lot because of my paperwork. They were stupid. I never heard from them again but assume they eventually found the van destroyed or in some homeless camp.
I was way up in the boonies in Alaska one time and the fry cook at some little eatery had a brand new Isuzu Trooper with Union County Georgia tags sitting outside which was a fairly expensive car at the time. He said he was going to stay the winter this year instead of going back to lower 48. As we left I told the guys I was with that there is some repo man back in Blairsville beating the bushes looking for that Trooper.
Go big or go home.
ReplyDeleteMust be a member of Crazy Joe's cabinet where they write fake checks every day.
ReplyDeleteAnd all this time I was thinking car dealerships didn't exactly hire the brightest. Oh well, live and learn.

DeleteA $78 million dollar check for a Porsche? Was he expecting to get the rest back in change?
ReplyDeleteMaybe because the perp-buyer waved away his change?
ReplyDeleteThis one's easy to figure..this Southern Indiana Hoosier has never been out of state.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he left Indiana and ended up in Ohio or Illinois and couldn't tell the difference. There is a lot of corn out there.
