Let's see, liquor store or morgue... liquor store or morgue?

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A community in Brentwood is still at odds with the City of Jacksonville. It has to do with land across the street from a school.

The city purchased the land for $1.8 million to stop a liquor store from opening.

Now, neighbors are back to protest the city’s plan to build a new Medical Examiner’s Office right behind it.

  1. I am surprised they don"t have zoning ordinances in place to keep liquor stores, bars, strip clubs, and other such businesses from going in near a school.

  4. I say put in the morgue. Then every so often, bring in a tour of the little buggers from across the street and show them all the dead junkies, drug dealers and gangsters. "Hey mom, remember Uncle Leroy? Yes, son, he got capped last week. We went on a tour yesterday, and we all seen him again!"

  5. Morgue or liquor store, you can still stop off for a cold one.

  6. A development nearby was radically opposed to the county building a sports complex because of added traffic during baseball season. The residents won. The county then rezoned for high density. A few years later part of the complex was turned into Section 8.
