Family of war veteran Sterling Cale announced his passing Wednesday, saying he died on Jan. 20 at his Aiea home overlooking Pearl Harbor’s ‘Battleship Row’.
On Sunday, Dec. 7, 1941, Cale was a 20-year-old pharmacist mate assigned to the U.S. Naval Hospital. He was wrapping up working a night shift when he saw military maneuvers in action. He thought it was odd for a Sunday.

RIP good sir. The greatest generation for a reason. My grandfather received a purple heart that I keep in a safe now from the very first kamikaze attack that sunk USS St. Lo. RIP to him too, my favorite person.

The way Hawaii is treating the Constitution, the japs should have left Pearl Harbor alone and bombed the shit out of the rest of the island.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky in my life to care for WWI and WWII vets in VA hospitals.
ReplyDeleteThey were better than us. Try to be better. Worthy of the men who fought Japs and Nazis and made them civilized men.
Let us make the 21st Century better than the 20th.
We have a 100 year old WWII vet coming to our veterans hall this Friday. Going to give him a birthday surprise when he shows up.
