Oklahoma Rep. seeks investigation after ODOC Director accidentally fires gun inside headquarters

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Representative J.J. Humphrey, R-Lane, is asking for the Executive Director of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (ODOC), Steven Harpe, to be investigated after he accidentally discharged a firearm inside the safe room at the ODOC headquarters last week.

The ODOC told KFOR Harpe got a gun from the safe and accidentally fired it Friday afternoon. The bullet hit the concrete floor.

  2. OK City Ordinance: § 14-46 DISCHARGING FIREARMS. (A) No person shall within the city discharge any gun, pistol or other firearm. This section shall not apply to any person using a shotgun for duck hunting at any city-owned or operated recreational facility under permit from the city.
Bet he won't be held accountable.

  3. "Since mid-2022, ODOC staff have been involved in nine accidental discharge incidents."
NINE? In 18 months? The director of training needs to be replaced with someone who is competent.

  4. God damn liberal guns..........going off when you least expect it. There's no such thing as an accidental discharge, unless it comes out of your pecker.

  6. I think I mentioned before - the Dep. Warden in the state where I went to college insisted on taking the Thompson onto the roof during a moment of inmate non-cooperation. He kept trying to close the bolt, and eventually he did. No idea where that round ended up.
