TN Democrats file multiple gun reform bills

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Now that the Tennessee General Assembly is back in session, Democrats in Tennessee are once again hoping to enact stricter gun laws and increase penalties for certain gun-related offenses.

Democrats in Tennessee are once again hoping to enact stricter gun laws and increase penalties for certain gun-related offenses.

The measures face little to no chance of passing the Republican-led supermajority, but that hasn’t stopped Democratic lawmakers from filing dozens of bills they hope will do something about the rate of gun violence in Tennessee.

Rep. Bo Mitchell (D-Nashville) has filed new bills on firearm storage penalties, the definition of an assault weapon, and new taxes on the sale of firearms, to name a few. Here are some of the bills filed or set for new action in 2024.

    1. Absolutely. These Democrats are attempting to Californicate Tennessee, plain and simple. Every law mentioned in the article is cut and pasted from existing California laws.

A 14 day waiting period? That's actually worse than California's 10 day waiting period.

  2. It's not "gun reform". It's "additional firearms restrictions". When the left controls the vocabulary they control the debate.

  6. It's not gun violence they're concerned about. It's about the patriots that will come for them when this country collapses. There is no voting us out of this. Trump is married to Israel like the rest of them.
