Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it

Voters in famously progressive San Francisco are poised to approve a law that would require single adults on welfare be screened and treated for illegal drug addiction, or else lose cash assistance.

Polling shows the majority of likely voters support the measure, which is also backed by Democratic Mayor London Breed, who faces a tough re-election fight in November.

  1. Fascinating. If it were a republican proposing this, it would be branded as racist or something.

    1. Its a great idea.

Charity has always been a hand up when in need.
Then govt stepped in, called it welfare, removed the stigma of being on the dole and allowed it become a lifestyle.

Able bodied means find a job, not suckle the teat of largesse.
Self-debilitation through drug use shouldn't be an excuse.

  3. Smaller government is not an option? Nanny State, full speed ahead!
Oh, and legalize and heavily regulate all drugs simultaneously
for even more democracy from above.

  4. The more people they pull off welfare, the more money for the illegals.
