I wish your father's memory many people thinking of not only him, but of their own fathers as well. I know that my own dad passed away at age of 86, in 2014. Exactly one year after my mother died. They were as close as any other married couple I know. You would see one of them in a supermarket or large store and automatically looked for the other one. While I learned many lessons from my parents, the most valuable one was how to love your spouse. I am one of those fortunate people who actually had amazing parents, and it is almost impossible for me to understand people who had either apathetic or uninvolved parents. I feel blessed and sad for people who had to grow up with parents that were not like mine. No doubt it was much tougher for them to grow up.
Lo, there do I see my father. Lo, there do I see my mother, and my sisters, and my brothers. Lo, there do I see the line of my people, Back to the beginning!
Lo, they do call to me. They bid me take my place among them, In the halls of Valhalla! Where the brave may live forever!
I'm on #3 and I'll dedicate all of them to him tonight.
Thanks for both his and your service. Too bad the Marxists seem to have implemented every single bullet point that we vets strived so hard to prevent from coming to fruition.
Thanks. Been thinking of my father more lately. He was tough in the way that fine steel is, bending but not breaking. His father and brothers were of the same metal. When I get home I’ll hoist one for yours and mine.
Kenny, 12March was Top Sarn't Dad's birthday, he would have been 99. He was a good, yet troubled man - and about the greatest dad in so many ways. I miss him, and I toast your Pops and my Dad - and you, brother; for honoring their memory - as is right and proper for us to do. The Lord is a warrior... people forget that.
This evening, will do
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Pop!

ReplyDeleteJust lifted a glass of wine for your Dad. I'm sure he would be very proud of you. I would be if you were my kid, Kenny.
