System Shock 2 and Deus Ex got me interested in implants and human enhancement but the tech was crude at best at the turn of the millennium. I don't see myself forfeiting a decade of my last young years in the pursuit of a career in neurotechnology, but I'm teasing it since the American taxpayers are paying for my education (CHEM). (Thank you American taxpayers)
In the upcoming brave new world, we'll be implanting similar things to "manage" the population. Since nothing else is working to bring our obsolete farm equipment up to minimum civilized standards, perhaps that is not such a bad idea.
