Walking away from a gas pump while filling up your car is not a good idea. Every 1,000,000 fill-ups or so, particularly with stations with fuel contaminated with sediment, the turn-off mechanism fails to work properly.

Gilbarco, headquartered in Greensboro North Carolina, has the majority market of these nozzles in the US, and they are of higher quality than their competitors.
#1 I knew a guy in weight and measures in Texas. The law said you had to have something to protect the driver. It did not specify what. As far he was concerned it could have been a piece of paper. There was no minimum for him to enforce.
Take for instance a Merritt aluminum headboard. When 50,000 pounds slides into that at any kind of speed, you can kiss your ass goodbye. It could be 1" steel plate and it wouldn't do you any good. The headboard or headrack is going to bust off of its anchor points on the frame and it's over. Both are nothing but feel-good cosmetic features that very seldom save a life in a serious mishap.
When I hauled lumber with my log truck we bolted a piece of 3/4" plywood to the truck's pipe headrack. That was enough to satisfy the CHP.
#2: No accounting for taste. #3: Every gas pump I've ever used has always had the opposite problem. Damn things like to shut off randomly. That's preferable to this, especially with the price these days. #4: I guess that's to keep idiots from getting onto that narrow bridge. Opposite effect achieved here. #5: You filming there...you had ONE job. Panic a second later next time! #9: On the bright side, he unloaded that impressively fast.
