An animal shelter in South Carolina doesn’t know why a 3-year-old dog was surrendered to them, but they believe he was well-loved based on the heartbreaking note he came with.
The black and white pup named Rhoudy was transferred to Greenville Humane Society from a partner shelter with a bed, toys and a handwritten note from a child.
“We love you Rhoudy,” the note says. “I will miss you but your [sic] going home! And I hope your people love you as much as I do.”

As sad as this story is, at least he wasn't dumped on the side of the road somewhere. Hopefully the dog will find a new loving home.
I'm afraid with bidenomics we will see more animals given up for adoption. People are barely feeding themselves. So sad
ReplyDeleteEspecially since so many people bought pets during Covid and the work-from-home period.
DeleteWith the way bidenomics is working, a dog being dumped on the side of the road might actually be a good thing, as families will start looking everywhere for meat. Raccoons, possums, squirrel, dogs, cats, rats and so forth, in the city no less. It's coming if the economy keeps tanking the way it is.
DeleteYou know people are in a bad place when they can't find a way to keep their dog.
ReplyDeleteGod help them.
According to several news outlets I've read animal shelters all over the country are being overwhelmed by pets being turned in because families can't afford to care for them... Bidenonomics is real and it's ruining our country

It's just more of the fundamental transform of America.
Deleteone thing the wife started doing back in philly was to keep a couple cans of dog food in the truck. we would see some guy along the road with a dog and a sign. we used to give him a few bucks and a couple of cans of dog food. it was worth the smiles we got back.
ReplyDeleteand canned dog food has gone way up in price the last 2-3 years too.
the stuff our dogs eat is close to 3 bucks a can now !
so, yeah. we are going to see a lot more of this the way things are going. FLB dave in pa.
A heartbreaking story.
ReplyDeleteGee, it seems to be a little dusty here...making my eyes water...
Darned allergies.
ReplyDeleteGet angry, get even.
ReplyDeleteIt's being done on purpose, and your local politicians are in on it too.
Last year, end of the summer, a 8 month old pup was dumped on the road by our farm. Took a few hours but I was able to get a choke chain on her. She was a well taken care of American Bulldog, spade, trained, clean. She took to our dogs and barn cats (and they to her) instantly. We decided to keep her. I can't imagine putting that much into an animal and then dumping it. Took her to the local pound to see if she was chipped, apparently not. We also found out that they were charging $147.00 to surrender a dog. If people are struggling to feed themselves and have to get rid of their pet, that is a lot of money. Sad times
ReplyDeleteBroke my heart when our 15 YO lab/shepherd cross got out of our sight one day, and went out to where my daughter always used to walk her. Not just for that, but she got too tired to even move, and by the time we found out where she had run off, there were two vehicles sitting there, plus a sheriff vehicle. They all thought she had been tossed out to die alone.
ReplyDeleteI picked her up to take her home, the Deputy hollers at me that he's citing me for abandonment, and I turn around, tell him we're going home. Go ahead and shoot me if you must, then walked home cross country, carrying my friend.
What in the heck is wrong with people that someone would do something like that, let alone that someone else would imagine that's what happened, nor that the cops would try to screw people for whom abandonment was obviously not the issue?
Cop didn't know that, Mr Salty. He probably hates people who abandon dogs as much as I do.
DeleteLots of people got animals during the lock down for the Fauci fake flu. Now the reality is biting them in the ass. Not the pet, the decision to support the commie. Too bad they aren't smart enough to put two and two together.
ReplyDeleteWe were at the dog jail looking for a companion for our Panda Bear when we saw a young man surrendering a Black Mouth Cur pup. They just had another kid, the idea of trying to keep a squirrel dog in a section 8 apartment got to be a PITA and he was beginning to eat more than they could afford. We put him and Panda in an enclosure and they got on like they were separated at birth, so we offered to foster him until they got their house in order, and he came home with us. The very next week he put himself between me and Panda and a 3ft copperhead while walking through the forest, and got bit on the leg for it. He earned his place in our house with that.
ReplyDeleteA bit later they started messaging us for updates and pics of Arlo, and then hit us with "We need to borrow some money" . We don't do loans, and don't hand out cash. We brought Arlo down to let the kids see him, and covered their rent for the rest of the year. They promised to pay it back, but the whole situation with wanting pics and whatnot before asking for money just made me salty, so we kindly explained that this wasn't a loan, but payment for Arlo to become our dog and that they were giving up claim to him. Small price to pay for a great squirrel dog, he'd have cost me more to buy outright.
Sometimes folks do the right thing by their animals, and sometime we can be in the right place at the right time to make it easy for them to do that.
