Report Finds Farmers Growing More Concerned About Economy

U.S. farmers’ confidence in the economy cratered in April, according to the latest monthly report from Purdue University.

The Purdue University-CME Group Ag Economy Barometer for last month, which was released Tuesday, fell 15 points from March. At 99, the current score is the lowest the barometer has dropped since it reached 97 in June 2022.

In addition, farmers’ sentiment regarding current conditions, one of the two indices used to create the barometer, continued a six-month slide. It fell 18 points to 83, which is the lowest that index has reached in nearly four years.

  1. Old fashion cow, sheep, pig, corn, wheat farms are in decline, but worm, ant and bug farms are gonna be big investment winners.

  2. No problem, we'll just eat Concerned About Economy, if that's what farmers are growing.

  3. Bumper crop of Vidalia Sweet onions this year. Less than a month into the selling season a farmer friend has bought his wife a new Lexus SUV and a 38' off shore fishing boat. The Pecan production this past season was also over expected harvest. Another big money maker. I live in the largest farming region in the south east. There are multiple hydroponic vegetable greenhouses in the county. All doing well. The largest chicken and quail hatchery in the southeast is also here. It is running at 95% production. The farmers are thriving. There are a lot of new Superduty pickups running around.
