The answer to this 83-year-old babe vs. Bison is plain as day. Solid odds say she's a lifelong Democrat and Biden voter with bad hearing. A friend who was standing next to her said: "Hey here come's Bison", but she heard "Here comes Biden".
shit like this never fails to crack me up. and yes. people are just that stupid. used to see dumb ass fools come in the ER all the time. we used to call it the Walt Disney thing. people watch cartoons and think that wild critters act just like that (???) the worse one was some cop outside a large city that jumped into a window well to help out a buck that fell in there. that buck kicked and mauled the shit out of his dumb ass before the other cop shot it dead. it is a wonder the cop didn't get shot as well really from the story I heard about it. wild critters are just that, wild. and again. people are that stupid. dave in pa.
The story doesn't describe how she got close to it. At 83 you can't move so fast. Maybe it walked up on her where she couldn't see it and just wasn't fast enough to get away. I know it's a longshot but there it is.
Storm Point Trail, where this took place goes from the highway east of Fishing Bridge to the lake. It's fairly wooded, without good sight lines ahead to to the sides until you get to the lake. The local patter about this is that she and the bison essentially stumbled upon each other. Fight or flight and the bison chose option A. We've been stopped in the past by a small herd of bison that decided camping on the trail was a good idea near where this happened.
At Yellowstone a ranger told me if he was close enough to see them blink, he was too close.
