Gov. Lee signs bill preventing local government from enacting red flag laws

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Governor Bill Lee has signed legislation preempting local municipalities from enforcing extreme risk protection orders (ERPOs), commonly known as red flag laws, which allow judges and police to temporarily take away someone’s guns if they’re at risk of harming themselves or others, despite his push for extreme risk protection orders before the Special Session in 2023.

Keep in mind that Billy Lee was the one that called for a special legislative session trying to get Red Flag laws passed here in Tennessee.

  1. I bet you there now are some pi..ed off ex wives and their sc.mbag lawyers seething from anger, so much anger we should apply this red flag law to them.

  3. Billy boy got his ass kicked in spades when he tried this on last year. The legislature met for the special session (they had to, he called one) and the majority flipped him the bird. They met, they tossed all his stuff in the dumpster, and went home. The dems are so outnumbered here that they can't prevent an override, either - so ol' Bill had two choices: sign, or get spanked with an override. He's pretty much been a wimp as a governor; better than the Duncan candidate or the carpetbagger, but mostly a squish. Doesn't matter, he's done, and he won't be going anywhere from here. We've got two good senators who won't give way to him, and there's not much else as he's done nothing to get him national recognition.

  5. So is he one of those politicians who want to be able to say they were both for and against Red Flag laws ? A lot of that going around.

  7. Billy Boy have a Come-to-Jesus moment, or is he doing a go-along-to-get-along slight of hand now 'cause he's got something more devious in the works for later?
