Denmark introduces fart tax on livestock to cut down on gassy emissions

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Denmark will tax livestock farmers for the greenhouse gases emitted by their cows, sheep and pigs from 2030, the first country in the world to do so as it targets a major source of methane emissions, one of the most potent gases contributing to global warming.

  1. Tens of millions of bison roamed the American West in the days before westward expansion. There are no reports that it was a blistering hell hole. I wonder what the difference is between cow farts, and bison farts?

    1. only the tax scam is different country boy. you, I, and every rational person in the world know that. look for the Denmark farmers to revolt like they did in other European country's. the politicians are committing professional suicide in this s=it. wait for it. Everyone want's food and will support the farmers.
most people are aware of the Holodomor genocide under Stalins communist government. farming is what made the USA a great and powerful country, the bread basket of the world.
don't f+ck with our food or our farmers or else.

  3. It takes a special kind of stupid to think that any tax will fix a problem. Especially an environmental one.

    1. May I introduce you to the California 'Cap and Trade' program, which enables the California Air Resouces Boad to levy a fee of up to 77 cents per gallon to the cost of a gallon of gasoline in an effort to lower global temperatures to livable levels? It was signed into law by good Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger under the 2006 'California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006', and the program is working wonderfully. Right now, it's only 110 in Redding, Californian, with forecasted highs of 119 o

  4. The 'fees' they are proposing per head vary from an amount equal to a couple of hundred dollars per year to an amount equal to around a fourth of the value of that animal per year. Then they attempt to make themselves sound 'reasonable' by giving the dairy farmers and ranchers a 60% tax credit, which might allow them to remain in business. Maybe.

It's just like what the Leftists would love to pull on cattle ranchers in California. Charge a guy for the methane his herd emits, while crediting him for the carbon his grasslands 'sequester'. Voila, total control, without effecting the temperature of the planet one iota. Meanwhile, the rancher is saddled with a ton of new paperwork to fill out while some newly created apparatchik gets paid $100K + a year to harass the rancher and monitor his 'compliance'. And in doing this, that young apparatchik thinks he's saving the planet while he dutifully votes Democrat for the rest of his life.

    Happy Independence Day.

  5. Are they going to tax the vast amounts of methane emitted from the Government policies?

  6. I guess that means there are new jobs available. After all, who is going to sit in the field and count the farts?

  7. How does the tax cut emissions? ohhh, nevermind: ""We have succeeded in landing a compromise on a CO2 tax, which lays the groundwork for a restructured food industry -– also on the other side of 2030," in other words, they plan to eliminate the food source...how else would the 'emissions' be reduced?
