#10 - had a semi in front of me throw up a rock about the size of my fist once. Went right through the windshield, zipped between me and my gf and hit the back of the pickup cab. That was exciting. One of the few times I appreciated bucket seats in that thing.
One of the guys I worked with in the Coast Guard stopped riding his motorcycle to work. I asked him why. He said he was following another biker to work when the truck ahead of them lost its spare tire from under its trailer. The tire flipped through the air and took the head off the biker my coworker was following. That was enough...
When all I could afford was a motorcycle at the time my best friend who use to ride said to me "Make sure you get a full faced helmet", I asked why and his replay was "So they can identify the body after the accident". After a couple of years of riding I'm pretty sure he was right... bunch of hazards out there for sure.
Yeah. And they should've been running crossways from it, and would have been out of the impact zone that much faster. Of courses given the time available to react and calculate an escape strategy, it may have just been instinctive to run the same direction it was falling.
#1) So many questions. Is that wire a barrier to keep boats away from a dam or spillway? If so, why not also have buoys and/or flags on the wire? Or is that wire a ferry guide? Finally, is that a police boat? I would love to know where/what happened here.
The cable is what the ferry on the opposite side transits on, back & forth. On the brighter side, it looks like the kind of boat used by fish & game wardens, so.....
Ha! Thanks. I see the ferry on the far side now that I have some context. I thought that was a boat ramp on the other side with a witness just standing there.
#1Thought the boat was going to be a chop-top. Wow #3 Kid was probably knocked out when his jaw hit the pavement. #4 Bad angle of the ladder but...Yo fat ass broke something again!
#10 Back in the late 70's was meeting an old Chevy station wagon. Got within about 75 yards of him when something came out from under his car and took 2 bounces and heading my way. Slammed on the brakes. No good. Took his muffler through the windshield between me and my wife. Luckily neither of us hurt.

#10 Well, shit!
ReplyDelete#2: Is that someone running to get out from under the collapsing pylon? If so, that was close!
ReplyDeleteSure looks like it.
DeleteYeah. And they should've been running crossways from it, and would have been out of the impact zone that much faster. Of courses given the time available to react and calculate an escape strategy, it may have just been instinctive to run the same direction it was falling.
DeleteIs someone running away after finding out what happens when you f***around with a pylon?

ReplyDeleteWire for a ferry
DeleteIt's a cable for the ferry on the opposite bank. Normally cable crossings are well marked.
DeleteThe cable is what the ferry on the opposite side transits on, back & forth. On the brighter side, it looks like the kind of boat used by fish & game wardens, so.....
DeleteTimar, Hungary.
DeletePolice boat somehow ignored all warnings and hit ferry cable.
Captain swam ashore.
Wire was for a ferry.

Delete#4 Stick to sucking dick and making sammiches.
ReplyDeleteWith #1 that cable should be way more visible - Markers or something on it. I presume it's there to block a hazard? Dam or Waterfall?
ReplyDeleteIt’s a cable for the Ferry
DeleteCable appears to be for a cable ferry. There should be warning posts/signs up- and down-stream.
Delete#10 As a motorcyclist on the highway, this is one of my fears.

#4. 70 degrees rule
DeleteLove how the first reaction is to hit the wipers :)
ReplyDeleteMay have been automatic wipers (optical sensor turns them on when it "sees" rain on the glass). Otherwise, I'm not sure what they hoped to accomplish.
Delete#3 Hey newbie, what's your name. My name is Bob. Meet Dan, Mary and Pedro. My name is Mike.

ReplyDelete4 I bet she went "oomph" when she hit the ground. Lucky the ladder kicked out or it would have really hurt, or hitting the ac.

My wife knows how to make a death trap.
ReplyDeleteProve it.
Ok…
The boat in #1 must be very well made. It resembles the boats used on our waterways by ALEA (formerly known as "the water patrol").
