Chi Chi Rodriguez dead at 88

Juan "Chi Chi" Rodriguez, a Hall of Fame golfer whose antics on the greens and inspiring life story made him among the sport's most popular players during a long professional career, died Thursday. He was 88.

  1. That's funny. When I first read the headline I pronounced Chi Chi's name the same way Less Nessman did, and I didn't even realize it was him I picked the habit up from 40 years ago. Now I know.

    That show was funny. "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!"
    And Chy Chy was a good guy.

  3. funny guy! I was his chauffeur for a chi chi fund raiser tournament, everywhere we went he would stop & chat with all the folks that recognized him, told jokes non stop in the car, RIP cheech

  4. I played the course out in El Paso where he learned to play. He always seemed like a nice guy on TV and was a fine golfer. Eod1sg Ret

  5. Chi Chi, Trevino & Doug Sanders were big jokesters on the Tour back in the 60s-70s. After the old Kemper Open in Charlotte, Sanders "gave" his courtesy Caddy (furnished by Arnold Palmer Cadillac) to his female "companion" for the week. She was clueless. And probably blonde.
