Shoplifting Rose Twenty-Four Percent This Year, No End in Sight

Shoplifting has soared in the U.S. in 2024, forcing many stores to leave cities and continuing a trend in recent years.

Shoplifting has risen 24 percent in the first half of 2024 alone, according to newly released data from the Council on Criminal Justice.

The White House cited the CCJ’s data to boast a drop in violent crime so far this year, but a closer look at the data showed that while violent crime has declined, shoplifting continues to rise. CCJ studied 23 U.S. cities.

  1. Had to visit WalDude today to get some kinda e-lektic'gizmo for Sweetie. Yes, they had it, but everything, I mean everything, is locked up in the TV/Computer/Gizmo department. An Associate had to get the Dept. Supervisor to open the cabinet.

  2. Since this is the same incomplete data that says muders and rapes are going down, we know that the actual numbers are FAR higher than a 24% increase. It must be truly, shockingly, horiffic.

Remember that store that got cited for calling 911 too much when they reported *all* the shoplifting that was going on? I wonder if the crime statistics for that area are included in this report? I'd bet not, if only because it would embarrass democrats.

  4. Of COURSE violent crimes went down. When you are not standing up to the leftists thugs they won't beat you to death.

  5. Burglary and theft are far higher than reported. As are most assaults, as they get downgraded to non-physical 'theft' or less.

The indicators of the real crime rates are how many businesses are locking down even basic stuff and how many businesses are just calling it quits.

A lot of police departments in leftyland don't even respond to residential calls for help for assaults. Again, lowering the reported number of crimes.

Fucked up world we live in.
