WATONGA, Okla. —
The Blaine County sheriff said he has received hundreds of calls from concerned citizens after a Watonga police officer was shown on body camera video slamming a man to the ground.
At around 6 a.m. on July 4, John Sexton was walking with his 6-year-old son, who has autism. He was stopped by two officers for suspicious activity before being thrown to the ground and briefly detained.

When I was in the military (some time ago) and we had an unsat in our midst, there was usually a blanket party commensurate with the level of the problem it was causing or could potentially cause if unchecked. There was, quite a range, let's say.
The good cops at this Sherriff's office, if there are some, need to step up and perform an immediate and severe intervention before this rogue POS ruins everyone's rep or worse, gets someone killed.
Lastly, in the video the faces of the dad and his 6-year-old son are clearly visible, but the cop's face is blurred? WTF? KOCO News 5, if you're going to protect anyone's identity, then protect everyone's identity. That was dicked up.
When a cop encounter gets ugly, 99% of the time it's the detainee who is out of line, and the cops show restraint and professionalism for longer than you would think humanly possible. You practically cheer to see the idiot get roughed up.
In this case, the dude was a little sassy and he didn't obey when the officer told him to turn around. But the one officer escalated way too fast and got physical without warning. Dude did not resist or even raise his voice.
There was no reasonable suspicion. The presence of a child should have been a frickin' clue. They couldn't even hold the guy. If a cop handles someone that way, the person better be under arrest with probable cause, actively resisting.
It's not the worst misconduct I ever saw but it's definitely Excessive Force.
It was a training session. The cop like thousands of his pals was just practicing for when the MAGAs start treasonists violence after Kamel Toe and Tampon Tim steal the election.

Just another thug or two with badges. Cops are increasingly just the best equipped street gang out there.

Honestly, I do. I have no idea what goes on in the Blaine County Sheriff's Office, but I'd bet the farm that there are honorable LEOs in Oklahoma.

ReplyDeleteIf the city police dept couldn't investigate his background, do you think they will really investigate any crimes?
