California leads the nation in student loan debt: Here’s how much residents owe

California has the highest amount of student loan debt in the nation, according to a study by the Kaplan Group.

The commercial collection agency ranked all 50 states and the District of Columbia to determine which areas struggled the most with debt. The study used data sourced from the Education Data Initiative.

  2. Hey I live here in the Peoples Republic & I have no student loans plus neither does my son! (Two bachelors degrees, 2 masters, a JD and a MBA combined. That & my wifes PH.d)

  3. Commiefornia has a schiff load of people in it. So based on population alone it should lead the nation. Unfortunately even with that large volume of people, it does not come close to leading the country in common sense.
