Workers at several Los Angeles recycling centers were arrested by police as part of an ongoing crackdown targeting metal thieves that have run amok across the city.
On Tuesday, Los Angeles City Council President Paul Krekorian joined officials from the Los Angeles Police Department to announce arrests made at three recyclers in his council district.
All sounds like excerpts from Atlas Shrugged. Like 1984, these "right wing" fictions have a nasty habit of coming true.
ReplyDeleteWhen one criminal can have such a huge impact on the public welfare, then the penalties should be harsh across the board- recyclers/employees caught= forfeiture of the business/prison time. In hindsight, cutting off the hands of thieves was not as barbaric as we think- it provides a strong deterrent, it makes identification of offenders easy and provides a public humiliation component.
ReplyDeleteCrackdown happened because it was stolen from various Gov't agencies, and the councilman needed a free press conference before the elections. If it was still the farmers being ripped off nothing would have happened.
ReplyDeleteCat Converter theft would stop if there wasn't a market prosecute the recyclers as they knowingly buy the stolen shit. Send em to jail with the thieves
