A Florida woman is facing charges after allegedly leaving her 3-year-old son alone to wander an apartment complex while she had cosmetic surgery.
Jessica Renteria, 25, was arrested in June and charged with child neglect after her son was apparently found wandering an apartment complex in Doral for hours. Police body camera footage shows the moments police found the boy — safe and unharmed — and arrested his mother.

Some of my fondest childhood memories are of playing with the other neighborhood kids on the sites of houses that were being constructed in the area. Looking back, it was probably a bit dangerous, but it was super fun. In those days, having to get stitched up because of a rebar related incident was nothing more than a badge of honor and a fun trip to the hospital, and we all have the scars to prove it.

These days I could see our parents being rounded up and it making the international news cycle. The kids of the first generation of helicopter parents are now parents themselves, and it's not pretty.
