I'm no meteorologist, but hurricanes naturally lose energy once they reach landfall. They to retain energy several hundred miles inland along with the increase in elevation?

It's happened before in that area. I read that back in the 1920s they had not one but two hurricanes and they collided right there, dumping 26 inches of rain in one day.
DeleteA hurricane is an organized low pressure system with a counterclockwise rotation and usually a definded eye. Once it starts to dissipate it basically becomes a huge nasty weather event usually throwing tornados in the area, sometimes it remains a wind event but other times it creates huge downpours and breezy weather.... Each one is a little different than the others..
