That’s actually not a crack in the jack stand. It’s dirt/oil build up next to the weld joining the two pieces of the base together. I use jack stands daily.
The upside down stand grabbed my focus. As it would. Knee-jerk reaction was Dude's tempting Darwin. After looking it over, I'd get under it. The tires are on the ground. Total failure results in the truck coming down on the suspension. I'm putting that in my Might need that one day file. That said, odds are slim, because I have two stands like that, two of different design, same height and load range and two 6,000 pound, quite a bit taller.
Not just that, but the intended contact points aren't being used; the horizontal brace is catching all the weight. Probably why that seam is splitting. Note also all is being braced by a piece of wood under the spare tire on top of this monstrosity.. In-fucking-credible. CC
I think my old eyes see the jack-stand under the wood 4x4? Is it offset from the center of the frame? If so, would it collapse away from our inventive yet daring mechanic? . Unless, of course, he is running handcuffed with a machine-gun in his bloomers...
Is that a mini-sledge in his other hand? He's banging around under that rig with it propped up like a house of cards? All he needs now is an incline without chocked wheels.
He has done this before.
ReplyDeleteYep. That stack ain't accidental. But how often will he do it again?
DeleteThat's a bold strategy there, cowboy. Think I'll settle down and watch awhile.

ReplyDeleteAnd when that mess falls, the death will be deemed an accident, rather than suicide.

ReplyDeleteLooks like he's taking pressure off the leaf spring and about to smack the rear eye area.
DeleteThis happens when someone from town without tools asks the car guy at work to try to unfuck his truck.
He better have a will if that thing gives way.
ReplyDeleteAll four wheels are on it. Nobody is getting mashed.
