Trump has vowed to kill US offshore wind projects. Will he succeed?
Opponents of offshore wind energy projects expect President-elect Donald Trump to kill an industry he has vowed to end on the first day he returns to the White House.
I worked in the wind energy business as a professional engineer and realized that it was an extremely expensive energy. They require constant maintenance and do kill birds. Also they are incredibly loud. I would go with solar on land that has no other use or on roof tops. All commercial wind needs to go.
Solar isn't viable large scale either without subsidies. No uncontrollable source is. Storage technology isn't up to the task, and demand will never track with delivery without it.
There is almost 65 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity under development in the U.S., enough to power more than 26 million homes, and some turbines are already spinning in several states, according to the American Clean Power Association.
Cut the government funding and subsidies. If it is a viable source of energy let it proove it on it's own.

DeleteToo bad we can't harvest the hot air the left constantly blows.
ReplyDeleteHave we tried HORIZONTAL windmills above DC?
DeleteYuck. Let's not spread the germs.
DeleteSucking at everything is not the same as blowing...

ReplyDeletePower those homes reliably?
