When my wife and I married 12 years ago we each had 2 older cats, when the "pride" was winnowed down to one old cat my wife announced that she was really a dog person. I was content with only the cat and Gage, the cat, was content being the only pet. A few months down the road we found ourselves the adopters of a cocker mix from Lebanon that we named bobby. Bobby had apparently lived on the streets and was pretty banged up physically but very charming. When we brought bobby home the cat was in a snit, bobby just walked up to him and licked his face. Both of them ended up sleeping on the foot of our bed and before long the cat would curl up and sleep with his head on bobby's hip.
I have never had a cat as a pet but I have had girlfriends that were.... I've had dogs as far back as I can remember.. I have never personally seen a cat and dog get along like that. I've seen them avoid and ignore each other and I've seen them try and steal stuff from each other... JD
