Many people have been asking us to compare .357/ .38 revolvers and there is no better person in the world to do it than Jerry. Which is your favorite?

  1. Interesting, I've carried a Ruger Speed Six 2 3/4 in. as a car/house gun for 43 years. It replaced a S&W 28 that never was right. Switched to a S&W 642 last year due to arthritis.

  2. I learned how to shoot a pistol with dad's Ruger Speed Six. Back in the 90's I was looking to buy a Speed Six but ran across a very good deal on a S&W 65-2. I have shot a Python. All 3 are good guns to have. I am partial to the S&W.

  3. He must be using cowboy shooting 38 special rounds in those, unless his hands are made of tool steel -- those revolvers barely move. 357 mag is going to rock that gun back a little bit.

That guy's skill is just unreal.

My favorite there is the S&W but I'd have wood grips, I'm not a fan of rubber, rubs the webbing between by thumb and trigger finger.

    1. Watch him shoot a S&W 500 magnum.
Suffice it to say he has a firm grip.

    2. I think he said he's using 158 grain .38 Special loads at about 700 fps.
But yes, his hands ARE made of tool steel.

  4. Dan Wesson. The rest are mere pretenders.

  5. S&W, Colt, Ruger, Whatever. Get thee to the range and practice with what you've got. That will make far more difference than any differences between guns.

    1. Agreed! And if you'd shot 1000000 rounds in practice, you too would have a grip and forearms of steel!

    1. Yes, he is. I get a kick out of him talking about his 'old eyes' when he can do more at 70 years old than the rest of us have ever been able to do in our entire lives.

The Man is just plain lovable, and humble beyond description.

  7. Before the boating accident, I bought a Ruger SP101 3" 38/357 in stainless. Shot 5 rounds through it, and considered selling it right away because it just seemed mechanical, not smooth. But I really liked the weight and my hand took well to it, so I ordered a trigger kit for it, got some metal polish, some felt dremel bits, and some good synthetic gun oil. 3 hours of work, and it became the finest, smoothest, fastest revolver ever to dispense lead. Light .38 loads can be run on target as fast as any semi-auto. And when you run hot .357 loads, she barks a bit, but is easy to control. $80 worth of trigger parts makes all the difference.

    Just kidding, I'm fine.

  9. My first carry gun was a J frame S&Wback in the late 70s into the early 80s... The second was a 4 inch Ruger Speed Six in 357 that I kept loaded with 38 special.. I carried that until 1996 when I bought my first Glock, which I have carried since..
I loved that Ruger, heavy enough to smooth out the recoil but not so heavy it was a burden to carry.. Sadly I sold it many years ago.

  10. Remember that video was shot over ten years ago and he is still a force to be reckoned with in comp.shooting.
