When you're too lazy to cut your own vegetables

  1. Have to cut back on that plastic.

  2. Reminds me of a meme I saw recently. Read something like….
“They can’t control people who are self-sustaining”
“That’s why they don’t teach you basic survival skills at school”
    Hat tip to CA @WRSA

  3. $4.00 for HALF an onion?!?!?! Who buys that???
I'm GUESSING there's a market for it since they're selling it; I just cannot imagine the depth of laziness necessary to think that's a deal.

  4. They do that with the stuff that is going bad, cut off the soft bits and sell it as ready for use.

  5. 4 bucks for half a red onion!!!
Where I live I can literally buy a bag of 10 red onions for less than that. I don't even wanna talk about the carrots.
Is that Bidenonmics at it's best?

  7. I hear that’s not uncommon in England now that they’ve been culturally enriched enough that they can’t even own a knife. Eod1sg Ret

    1. I wonder what the few Limeys who still have a few are gonna do when they ban teeth because the Mooslimes are bitting folks.

  8. It's the same mentality as these web based meal services. For a "small markup" they send, overnight of course, "all the ingredients necessary to create an amazing meal, recipie included". Because walking in to a grocery store and choosing these items is way to much effort for a busy professional like you. We take the effort out of preparing a healthy meal. The Chinese are going to destroy us!

    1. At one point my daughter-in-law, who could barely cook, signed up for one of those you assemble it and cook it services. Once she got the knack for how to cook, she canceled the service.

Back to the basic concept that schools don't teach home economics and we're on the 2nd generation that doesn't know how to cook.

    2. This is why I taught both of my boys how to cook and how to enjoy cooking at an early age. My youngest is now a better chef than his old man (at least when it comes to baking things. I suck at baking.) They both have very developed palates and are NOT afraid to try new things. My wife, despite my trying to teach her for 35 years, still cannot cook her way out of a paper bag. If it can't be crock-potted, she can't do it...

  9. I admit that I buy packs of chopped frozen onions as a convenience so I have them when I'm frying hamburger or pork for pasta sauce. Easier than stopping everything to put an onion in the chopper.

  10. They sell quite a bit of to veggies here packaged like that. It's really strange. The produce department sucks here

  11. Since it is wrapped in plastic it does not smell as much when it becomes a science project. And cheaper than a visit to the ER.

  12. I thought this was a photo of a vegan vending machine for airport travelers. The Ronco "Build Your Own Fresh Salad" VendoMatic allows knife-less travelers to have a healthy vegan snack which only costs about $30 per serving. Coming soon: the Ronco "Pre-chewed Salad" VendoMatic for vegans who lack teeth, or are just *that* lazy.

  13. There's a local "independent" store in my area that does stuff like this. They have plastic shrink wrapped individual lemons too.

I'd love to support them, but between the absurd amount of plastic and styrofoam packaging they use and the low level hostility I feel emanating off of the new owners for me just being White and existing, they can fuck off.

    1. Funny how the people (and how they treat the customer) makes such a huge difference. There are several stores that I go to just because I like the people that work there. If those people move on, or the place turns hostile towards me, I'll stop going.

  14. Ya think if I take the produce from my garden to the store they will cut it up for me?

  15. We buy large packages of pre-sliced cucumber from HEB for under $3 for quick snacking when on the road. But 4 bucks for half a red onion is just lazy, in my opinion. I guess if it's on EBT, it's free.

  17. I have worked produce for 25 years. We have an entire wall of pre cut veggies and fruit. I determined that most people don't pay for their food, so they don't care what it costs.
