Mattel was sued on Tuesday by a South Carolina mother for mistakenly putting a link to a pornographic website on packaging for dolls tied to the blockbuster movie “Wicked.”
In a proposed class action filed in federal court in Los Angeles, Holly Ricketson said she bought a “Wicked” doll for her daughter, who then visited an adult entertainment website through the link provided by the toymaker.

Someone at Mattel needs to be horse whipped. That was no accident.

Accident my ass!
ReplyDeleteThe instant the error was discovered, Mattel should have contacted the web site owners and offered to buy the URL for an insane amount of money. Or at least offer to pay the URL owners to "steer" all traffic to the Mattel web site for a couple of years. Either option would have been cheaper in the long run compared to facing the ambulance chasers and crooked judges in California.
ReplyDeleteIf it had been a LGBTQ site, Mattel would've been instantly lauded as "Brave & Stunning". Possibly even "Fabulous"

btw, I'm still laughing at Mattel's vitiligo Barbie. Go ahead, Google it.

"On July 23, 2024, Mattel announced the addition of a blind Barbie doll and a Black Barbie doll with Down syndrome, created to allow even more children to find a doll that represents them and inspire all children to tell more stories through play. Barbie once again partnered with NDSS to introduce its next doll with Down syndrome to the Barbie Fashionistas 2024 lineup. "
DeleteMaking a black downy doll is kind of overkill, don't you think?
