Your Thursday Morning Florida Report

A Florida man was arrested for two separate thefts that occurred within 15 minutes of one another, Sunshine State authorities say.

Andrew Sylvester, 42, stands accused of two counts of felony retail theft, according to a press release issued by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office earlier this month and a press briefing last week.

In each instance, the defendant allegedly stole several hundred dollars worth of products from the same Publix supermarket in central Florida, according to the law enforcement agency.

  1. It's not unusual to forget something while shopping in the store and not remember it till after you're out in the parking lot.

  3. Come Christmas time, no money for presents.
What to do? My 7 yr old brother hatched a plan all by himself.

He borrowed a couple bucks then walked down to K mart and bought a few things. He then marched right back in, bagged items in hand, and switched price stickers with higher priced items. Then returned what he had bought.
This was a time that all products had price tags and before the tags were scored to tear apart when trying to remove.

He did this several times and amassed a tidy bundle. Even though he had all the presents he wanted, he had to do it one more time. This was his downfall. This time he went through the same checker. She became suspicious and little brother was caught red handed.

They made him return everything else they would call his parents. Of course losing the ill gotten gains was the better option. But they didn't get everything. The little guy was too clever, he kept some back. Evidently his many trips through the store produced a confusing amount of receipts.

We only discovered this on Christmas morn. How is it that there were so many presents from the little guy with no money.
After the Christmas festivities, our parents force marched him to the store to cop to everything. Little brother coughed up a heartfelt apology the the Kmart staff. Parents paid for what the store had missed. Lil brother worked it off at home.
