The Global Engagement Center, an office housed within the State Department and aiming to thwart disinformation and misinformation, has been forced by Congress to close up shop. It’s no mystery why; the taxpayer-backed GEC violated its mandate to work only overseas and devolved into a partisan enabler of speech suppression in the United States.
Here’s how.
The State Dept. does the same as the jihad groups they support, they renamed the GEC as the Counter Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (R/FIMI) and transferred the staff and $'s to that. SSDD
ReplyDeleteI sincerely wish that government officials and employees would go to prison for violating the constitution.
ReplyDeleteYes, they should. And everybody they illegally censored (i.e. every single person they censored) should get a payout as well.

"While the GEC is no more, the employees who helped lead the office over the years are being reassigned elsewhere in the U.S. government, likely within the State Department . . . "
ReplyDeleteThe prime directive of any bureaucracy is to protect and enlarge the bureaucracy. In political jargon, a self-licking ice cream cone is a self-perpetuating system that has no purpose other than to sustain itself. In The Irish Times, Kevin Courtney observed that "many organizations are also stuck in limbo, destined to keep lurching on without ever achieving their stated goal. That’s because their real goal is simply to carry on regardless."
Jerry Pournelle's Law Of Bureaucracy comes to mind.
