HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- During the previous presidential administration, Texas spent billions on border security, and lawmakers are now trying to get the money back while possibly spending billions more.

  1. Back in the day, Texas (or maybe just certain counties in Texas) would periodically offer a bounty on coyotes for predator control purposes.

  2. Texan here. You can either spend billions getting rid of them or spend billions feeding them. Note: if you feed them you just get more to feed.

    1. I live way down there in the Texas RGV area (near the mouth of the Rio Grande, hard up against the border w/ Mexico). There is a lot of illegal passages made through our area, both illegal drugs and alien population smuggling. Cartel violence across the border is a concern as both clashing cartels and Mexican government occurs frequently. I agree with Anon 4:22 above - a lot of $$ is spent dealing with illegal border crossings.

If you want to stop or slow down this traffic, putting pressure on American employers to verify their status of citizenship should be put in place, with heavy fines on hiring people who do not have permission to be in our country. With that in place, many illegals will either self deport back or not come here to begin with.

  3. That money is spent either way. If they come in you have Welfare, medical, schooling, crime and democrat votes. Or spend to try to keep them south of border.

    1. It's better for the government to spend money keeping the problem away than to spend it cleaning up the mess the problem leaves behind. Some of the mess will be the ruined lives of the citizens the government has pledged to protect. Allowing that to happen when the mess could be avoided is unacceptable.

  4. Money well spent. Maybe the other states that benefit from Texas' action could start a Go-Fund-Me.

  5. It's going to cost a lot to fix all of Biden's fuckups. And some of them will never be fixed.

    1. The demographic shift that accelerated under Obama and Biden is particularly nefarious.

  6. Another reason to stop illegals. They cost YOU coming and going.
