Species are becoming extinct! It’s a crisis competing for all manner of other crises, though at the moment the “Climate Crisis,” AKA “Climate Change,” is winning the publicity and funding war. Keeping in mind much of the literature on the subject—trust the science—is very much in the hysterical category, consider this:

As extinct as an honest democrat.
ReplyDeletePlease stay on topic! We're not talking Greek Mythology here!...
DeleteAdd to this the fact that animals adapt. I live in the desert. About 25 years ago, the state of California built a HUGE reservoir in my area. This attracted sea birds, including seagulls and herons. These birds settled quite nicely into their desert environs. The seagulls foraged in the dumpsters and parking lots. After all, that's what seagulls do at the beach. The herons started foraging in the brush. Seeing herons with bluebelly lizards in their beaks is quite common now. I actually saw one in a field near my house trying to figure out how to swallow a fully grown GOPHER last week!
Delete...Manmade "climate change" is so many pounds of Bravo Sierra. Man... and everything else on Earth... has an impact on the environment, but so too, does the environment have its impact on man... and everything else...
Now pardon me while I go banish that heron from the field. After all, herons eating gophers is cultural appropriation from hawks, and CANNOT be tolerated...
Somebody should claim to be an "expert" and say that the snail darter became extinct because too much water was being diverted to them and it swept them all out to sea.
