Commentary: Unleashing DOGE on the Billion Dollar EPA Climate Caper
Recently some old-timey retired financial crime investigators suggested to me an approach DOGE might take toward recouping billions of dollars ripped off from American taxpayers by grifters in the last dying gasps of that horror show called the Biden administration. I think it bears relating here. Are you listening, Elon?

There are hundreds of billions in "green energy" subsidies and credits, and just as many unscrupulous governors and state lawmakers with their grubby claws out to scrape them up.

Wirecutter, by introducing me to the paper, has made me a regular reader of the Tennessee Star, one of the few existing newspapers that still has quality journalism.
ReplyDeleteWith respect to Doge and Biden’s illicit lame duck transfers, the forensic auditors are undoubtedly aware of such money movements. Getting the money back may take some wrangling, but the threat of long sentences for those convicted of mail and wire fraud may act as incentive.
And yes, anything “green” is a major waste. When I was a kid, my mother would occasionally take me and my sister on a trip to Manhattan. I remember that the air there was majorly polluted. Around 1973, the EPA got the lead out of gasoline and mandated catalytic converters for cars, and within a few years the pollution levels plummeted to acceptable numbers.
Recent EPA action now has a dimishing return. Every present dollar spent is wasted. Lowering “carbon footprints” does nothing gor the health or wellbeing of the population as does chasing cow farts. The EPA bureaucracy grows, implementing a tangled web of costly regulations, with nothing to show for it. History has shown that California’s state regulations preceded national EPA regulations by about a decade. Anybody else want $5.00 a gallon gas, gas powered lawnmowers, chainsaws, weedwackers, etc. abolished?
Dunno. they, DOGE, have exposed a rotting carcas. Not sure at this point what can be saved. Would go for Neck Tie parties for those responsible, And I really care not what they have after their name, D or R. They are all suspect.
