My in-laws bought a small goat when my oldest daughter was little and she loved to play with it. The problem was that the goat grew much faster than my daughter did and it wasn't long before it was playing too rough with her.
I bought a kid once, I was going to raise it to butcher, and of course the girlfriend gave it a name and then it was a pet that she loved.. That goat grew kinda roudy and hard to handle so it was eventually given to someone else that promised not to kill it... JD
Same thing with my uncle. He bought a pair of kids to get rid of the weeds that took over his pasture, then he was going to butcher them. Then my cousins named one Briggs and the other Stratton, and they both died of old age.
My neighbor got a pair of miniature goats. They were so cute when they were young. As they grew they would climb on anything. One day they climbed on his convertible Mercedes and went through the top. They ate all the upholstery and made a terrible mess. It wasn't long before the goats had a new home on a farm not to far away.
Around 1935, my oldest brother had a pet goat. Out of kindness one cold night, Daddy let Billy overnight in the garage. Next morning opened the door to find that Billy had climbed atop the car and collapsed the wood & fabric roof-liner. Kicking in futile attempt to get free, Billy's hooves shredded the upholstery. Daddy was late for work that morning as he had to visit the local butcher.
