As police oversight officials in Chicago are working to determine if changes should be made to CPD’s traffic stop policies and practices, one of our city’s cops says he was the target of an unlawful traffic stop in Arizona last summer. Many of the complaints CPD Officer Jalen Woods aired during interviews with a Phoenix TV reporter echo concerns people have raised about police practices here in Chicago.

Tempe cops claimed they heard Woods’ tires “chirp” and smelled burning rubber, prompting them to make the stop. But the Woods says he did not squeal his tires and claims the Tempe cops quickly went from writing a ticket to going on a fishing expedition for bigger problems.
Sounds like the movie "In The Heat of The Night"'.

ReplyDeleteNot sure what the sound of chirping tires is- squealing yes- Are chirping tires and burnt rubber smell valid probable cause? Sounds pretty flimsy-
ReplyDeleteThey are referring to is the Mill Avenue area, which is the ASU drunken frat party street just off campus. The entire area is a mini version of spring break every weekend. Definitely an intensive presence and zero tolerance beat.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Never visit a party town and screw around. Get caught and you will fast find out some things you'd rather not know.
DeleteRacists! It's Tempe. Get over it. I've been pulled over with the same weak-ass excuse. They can't prove you did it and you can't prove you didn't. But you've been targeted.
