Often, home swimming pools are shaped like a kidney bean, looking much like that hole.
Back in the day, used to drive by former boxer, Archie Moore's house and you could see his pool from the I-5 at the National City exit in San Diego. His pool was shaped like a boxing glove.
#2 - I know that the caption is from elsewhere, but the aircraft wasn't "sitting" on the runway, it was parked on the ramp (or apron if you prefer that term). Aircraft never just "sit" on runways.
The F-16s were lined up in a row per normal parking procedures of the time. The aircraft beyond that one was damaged, but not destroyed. Didn't see any other descriptions of damage.
Had that happen to the Camry to the Camry I used to own. Happened in the winter, just after I got my inspection sticker renewed. Drove it for almost a year with a small screwdriver jammed into the hole where it broke off. Believe it or not, door handles are safety devices. Took about 45 minutes to replace.
Had to remove the door panel, which was a son of gun without breaking the plastic clips holding it in. There's a utube video on how to do it for the Camry. There's probably a utube vid for every minor repair on every vehicle vehicle on the road.

#2 I have to wonder what was downrange behind that F16. Not that building, for sure.

Had to replace my Nissan's twice. Took about two hours because you have to hook a wire in a small hole while pulling a lever on the outside. PITA.
