Why back in my day, if we wanted to make a silly meme, we had to actually build a physical thing using random junk we had laying about. And then we had to stage and capture photos using a Sony digital camera, copy the RAW files to a PC via memory cards, then compress the image to a JPEG so we could upload it to CompuServe or AOL via 9600 baud dial-up modem. All that just work to maybe get a chuckle at the office.
But not you kids with your "Artificial Intelligence" and dratted "Large Language Models"! All you kids have to do is yak into your cell phone, "Show me a homemade barbecue grill made from an empty 55 gallon plastic food drum". Boom! Some "Cloud Server" craps out an image in 20 seconds so you can upload it to Twitter where you can make a quick $500 because you have a "Blue Check" and 100,000 "followers".
You give me too much credit. I don't even know how to use AI, I don't own a cell phone and I get my memes from one of 3 or 4 meme sites I frequent for that purpose alone. In 20 years I'll be old skool if I'm already not.
If that isn't AI-generated, someone went to a lot of trouble (and a little expense) to create an I-R-Dumb image. Might at least show us the "in-use" image, too.
I have no idea why my brain went with the AI nonsense. Just trying to be funny and failing as usual.
I've no doubt someone really carved up a plastic drum thinking it would work. "Hey, I can save money AND I don't need to weld. I'm a genius! Next, I'll make some of those Caribbean drums from Jamaica, but I'll use plastic. They'll be so much lighter and easier to make."
I'm just kicking myself for forgetting the "And we LIKED IT!" ending from Dana Carvey's grumpy old man SNL bit.

I have heard of cold smoking meat but pretty sure that still isn't going to work with that.

ReplyDeleteIsn't that the one Chucky Schumer was making cheese burgers on?
ReplyDeleteI saw that picture, he looks like a weasel, a nasty backstabbing weasel.
DeleteJD
That's because he is!!!
DeleteDon't they all?
DeleteSome meanings for the name Schumer are "good for nothing" and "vagabond"- agreed!
DeleteOh, Lord....
ReplyDelete"How creative".
ReplyDeleteLower the rack a little more and it would make a decent parts washer.

My Dad had a grill just like that one. Except it was a steel drum. Worked like a champ for years.
ReplyDeleteThis one? Not so much!
