President Trump says he plans to investigate California high-speed rail project

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — President Donald Trump said he intends to launch an investigation into California's high-speed rail project, calling it the "worst managed project" he's ever seen.

  1. Good. Florida has private high speed rail, part of it is on an existing railroad, which they helped double track and build up to higher standards, though the speed is only 70 something max. The section from Cocoa to Orlando they built themselves and can reach speeds of 130mph.

  2. It's doing exactly what it was intended to do, which does not include anything as crass as actually moving people from point a to point b.

  3. Read up on the "Big Dig" for another worst managed project, when opened killed a motorist. CA high speed rail is never going to be finished, because they will have to eminent domain a large number of homes and businesses in San Francisco and LA.

  5. And now you know how the rich politicians get rich and buy mansions. My question is with all the corruption and theft why aren't they richer?

    2. Offshore and stuff like quietly held gold, not to mention ongoing expenses like fucking children. I think if I had a little windfall, I'd buy gold in small denominations.

  6. If someone starts peeling back the layers of that onion it will never be finished. But so far the plan hasn't been about even getting it started. How do you get hi speed rail without the hi , the speed and or rails? Oh yes you get a democrat to fund it and another democrat to build it then nothing is assured to get done...

  8. Public Trans is always a scam. Unions build it; Unions run it and everyone kicks up to the democrat party. The best analogy is The Sopranos.

Mass transit is not about moving people. It's about Union construction companies working to the rule then halting work when and environmental problem is "discovered", (enriching lawyers). Shovels down while studies are commissioned, blah, blah, blah.

Back to work until an Eminent Domain issue has to be resolved, millions spent in court, (enriching lawyers) blah, blah, blah.

    Wash, rinse, and repeat.

It's not about moving people, it's about pain lawyers; The democrats biggest patrons.

  9. 'Investigate'?
He'll first have to FIND it, that's how small it is.

  11. Could he come to the UK and take a look at our badly managed rail project? It is called HS2 and if it ever gets finished it will knock about twenty minutes off the journey time from London to Birmingham. As you might guess it's already way over budget and way behind schedule. I often wonder if these great public works are like money laundering operations for various well connected government wonks to siphon public money into their own pockets.

    1. I especially enjoyed the high speed ferry from Holyhead to Dublin. Took forty minutes to leave the dock, turn in the turning basin, leave the harbor. Same thing at the other end. The high speed was slower than the old ferry.
And in the first years, the ferry went to Dun Laoghaire ten miles south of Dublin.

  12. Politician awards contract to company of friend or relative; cost overruns are actually bribes kicked back to awarding politician.
