NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One Tennessee lawmaker believes terminally ill patients should have the right to die if they choose.
Democratic Rep. Bob Freeman (D-Nashville) is sponsoring a bill to legalize medically assisted suicide this legislative session after a similar bill he carried last year failed to make it out of committee.
As Canada's MAID program (Medical Assistance In Dying) has shown it's a slippery slope from "assisting" folks that want to die to telling folks they should die as they are too expensive to live.
ReplyDeleteBTW it gets worse from there as history shows, over and over again.
That was my first thought when I saw the story.
DeleteI like MAID ... the statistics show that you're more likely to be legally, deliberately killed by a doctor in Canada than you are to die by a firearm in the United States.
DeleteMake murder great again. Do Not Give Quacks Power To Kill. Research the T4 Programme in 1930's Germany. It starts slow.
ReplyDeleteLook at Canada. They're encouraging people to x themselves out.
DeleteDo not give the quacks "more" power to kill
DeleteThis is not needed...
ReplyDelete“ There are tons of checks and balances,” Rep. Freeman said.
ReplyDeleteBullshit. As others have stated, this is the slippery slope. And the argument about how we euthanize pets is a straw man argument and the left knows it.
The problem is God has been left out of the conversation which is by design. Don’t fall for it, Tennessee! If Bob Freeman feels so strongly, he should set the example and show everyone how “dignified” it is.
Fuck the Left! You cannot hate them enough.
Besides the obvious slippery slope arguments, one thing I really like about this is that it's a state effort. Just like abortion, it's murder. And murder is bad. Facts which seem to escape a lot of people.
ReplyDeleteBut at least they're attempting to address it at the right level. Murder is a state issue.

I'll hold judgement. Since the main cause of death is being born, which is out of the individual's hands maybe death should be out of their hands as well, but on the other hand pain is a very powerful motivator so maybe "My Body, My choice" might be concidered a legit path too.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching my father in law, wife, and mother all suffer for years while dying, I can see the upside to this. All 3 begged to be put out of their misery. All 3 begged me to "help" them. Nothing noble about suffering for months and months with no hope of recovery.
ReplyDeleteGet a living will made up, appoint a medical power of attorney.
ReplyDeletePersonally I don't think it's any of the government's business..

Just curious how this might affect a life insurance policy. Suicide sometimes does not pay out... I'm not an expert, just asking if someone knows...
ReplyDeleteGB
Life insurance policies have time specific suicide clauses. The time varies by state usually 2 or 3 years. So if you commit suicide several years down the road you aren't assumed to be trying to defraud the insurance company.
DeleteDemocraps supporting the right to perform post birth abortions on themselves.
ReplyDeleteIs there a downside?
