Remembering Air Time | The Legendary PBR Bull That Defied Gravity

Air Time was one of the most memorable bulls in PBR, and for good reason. He had a mind of his own, a style that kept riders guessing, and a way of making every out stand out. Whether it was his high-flying bucks or the way he rattled even the best riders, his impact on the sport still lives on.

  1. That bull could have just a well been named 'Jumping Jack'. WOW!

Thanks for your bull and bull riding videos, Ken. Everything I know about the subject I learned from your videos and researching the names of the bulls and the riders mentioned. What a great sport it is. Absolutely and purely American.

    1. Check it out - in between marriages I actually owned a TV set soley for bull riding and NHRA drag racing. That was it. If one of those wasn't on, neither was the TV.

  2. Got a friend who back in the day worked on a big spread out west. I forget the details now but he said the owner had a full size regulation arena set up where the big names came to hang out and practice riding.
One day a young guy he called a "Dime-store Cowboy" showed up claiming he had ridden the toughest there was. They had a bull called Alice In Chains that had a piece of chain stretched between it's horns to keep it from mauling the riders as apparently it had learned to flip them forward and hook them with a horn.
The kid demanded to ride the bull and my buddy asked the owner if it was a wise decision to let him, the owner asked him "Did he sign the liability release?" "Yes" was the answer. "Put him on" was the reply.
An instant after the chute was opened the bull went up, the kid went down, and he said you could here the crack from his forehead hitting the chain clear across the arena.
It took the better part of an hour for him to come to, and they never saw him again.

  3. Slingblade was another bull from the past that could definitely catch some air. Not many ride him.
