Where are federal jobs affected by DOGE cuts? A look at congressional districts across the US

WASHINGTON (AP) — Civilian federal jobs are being cut by the thousands, as Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency continues to shrink the government workforce at the behest of President Donald Trump.

That’s brought a lot of churn and uncertainty in the nation’s capital, where 20% of the country’s more than 2 million civilian — or nonmilitary — federal workers are located.

  1. We don't care. I don't know where I read it, but someone suggested firing every goverment employee with an even employee ID. 50% savings in one fell swoop.

  2. Since getting promoted puts you back into probationary status some of the folks running FHWA's western region were let go, while they will probably get rehired for now there isn't anyone to actually authorize highway construction projects so if you work for a construction company that does road work this year might be a bit light on work.

    1. People don't realize the multiplying effect that these firings have.
When you fire people (or threaten to fire) those people stop spending. That impacts your local restaurant, hardware store, soccer league and every other business you can think of. At same time, because no one is authorizing highways; construction companies also start reducing their workforce which again means fewer people at the local restaurant, hardware store and soccer leagues. the restaurants that have fewer patrons will also start firing which will turn into fewer clients at the hardware store, and so on. It is a self fulfilling prophecy.

In the aggregate this also means smaller tax revenues for local and federal governments which will mean higher deficits.

This is effect is felt not only in DC. It is happening all over the country.
Midterms will be great for Democrats. Brace yourself.

    2. Don't hold your breath. In order to pay employees in D C the government has to steal money from taxpayers all over America. We're tired of being robbed.
