  1. In 1974 or so I was selling and travel in Bowling Green Ky. I was spending the night at the Ramada Inn on Scottsville Rd on the I 65 Bybass. In the bar there after dinner I got into a conversation with a guy who said he was George Jones a singer. from Nashville, an hour away. I didn't follow county music but I had heard of him and said
'Why not drink in Nashville?" He said" too many people know me and I can't drink like I want to there, so I drive a ways and drink like I want too". I was a 23 year old kid and we got knee crawling DRUNK in that bar to the point that I crawled to my room. I had no receipt of paying or loss of money so I suspect he paid for everything. Not my intention just too drunk to do it. Never saw him again but have read several bios and they have said he would disappear and go on benders and do what we did. Got no proo, just drunken memories but the guy I drank with was a pro and a great guy.

  2. Also known as No Show Jones for good reason. If/when he would come around, he put on a good show.
